This belong to my middle son. White Faced Spanish are believe to be the first breed of chicken (other than Games) brought to the Americas.

I like their clown faces. :D I had a white faced black spanish hen at one time, came from a hatchery. She was pretty, but wild.

Post Re: White Faced Spanish bantams
"It is easy to describe this beautiful and noble race of fowls, as no variety of color is admissible. These birds must be black throughout, richly shaded with a metallic green lustre. A purely white face is imperatively necessary to constitute a perfect specimen. Care must be taken not to mistake the ear-lobe for the face, as in the very worst samples of the bird the former will be found quite white. In a first-class bird this color must be unmixed with red spots, and extend from the insertion of the comb to the gill, and from the ear-lobe to the beak. The earlobe must be large, pendant, thick, and quite free from any colour"
From Dmestic Poultry 1867
."WOONSOCKET, Sept. 20th, 1852.
MR. T. B. MINER -.Dear Sir: The Black Spanish fowls, which this cut represents, were imported late in the summer of 1850, by Mr. J.Tucker, of "Waterford, through hia father, then a resident of England, who states that he has bred the Spanish fowl for upwards of twenty years, and being thoroughly acquainted with the breed, he says he never saw finer specimens of the Spanish stock.

Excellent layers of a really big egg for a bantam.

Excellent white faces, I didn't know they existed in Bantam but I guess just about everything has a miniature nowadays!

We just butchered a hatchery white faced black spanish bantam cock yesterday, the odd thing, was his body conformation was a lot more muscular than I would have thought, I was expecting something a lot more skinny, but he was well-muscled for a little guy. The only things we have ever killed that had a better build are cornish, cornish crosses, and some of the heavy breeds, and crosses. This guy was not built like a Leghorn!!

Great face on that bird! I had the standards for awhile and sold my trio to a kid who started showing them. Lo and behold the kid has been winning all his junior showmanship classes with the rooster.
