 black fowl
Hey all,
Was at a friends farm sunday and he has a black rooster that was pitch black with the most wonderful green sheen to his feathers. He was very game since you couldnt really get close to him. His wife said that she did not know what he was since she got him with his father...Who her husband culled due to everytime he would go to collect eggs from the hens the rooster would attack him. Her husband hates this bird so much that when I asked him he wouldnt answer...Like just speaking about him gave the guy a bad taste. Wife also said the only reason hes not in the fryer is because she likes him. I was wondering if any one had and ideas and pics they could post. I would love to cross this with a kelso hen to see what would come out. The rooster was about medium stationed and looked to be about 4.8-5.0. Thanks for any responses in advance.

 Re: black fowl
Don't know what the rooster could be but would like to comment on the belief that a bird is game because he attacks people. I have had many game birds you could pick up without them attacking you. Gameness in a bird has nothing to do with meaness toward people. In fact most "manfighters" are regarded as not game. Gameness is the characteristic in a gamebird to never quit or give up trying to win. Just wanted to say that because so many people believe this false idea.

 Re: black fowl
It looks just like that sid taylor there. Thanks for clearing that up with Me about gameness and about manfighters. On My friends farm they have only game roosters on tie cords and Im pretty familar with non game so that is why I asked. I think it is a sid taylor and I would like to know if anyone has crossed one of the sids with a kelso hen...Would like to know if it is a good idea cause Im in love with this bird.

 Re: black fowl
Anything like the bird on my pic ? Black with green beetle shine most likely comes from Sumatra. I've had some bad manfighters in this breed. What many people don't know is that Sumatra is one of the oldest gamebreeds around, eventhough they are more for elegance these than for fights (apart from some French and Sundaic lines). They are very usefull in bringing back gameness to a breed. (they were used in many gamebreeds all over the world)
