 Re: BBR yokohama bantam
Here is his full brother, not as much white, but lacking the yellow legs. I never used Cubalayas but he seems to have some of those traits. Since discovering this forum I have learned a few things about breeding so Im anxious for spring! Im not going to be using either of these two guys at all. (white ear lobes) I will however use the same pair that produced them (both have red earlobes) and try to get more than just one hatch out of them. I usually let the hens do their thing and call it a season. With this batch I got these two guys and a Hawk got there sister. So I dont know if she would have had the red earlobes needed. Any thoughts everyone?

 Re: BBR yokohama bantam
Following pics are of parents of both the previous birds. (2006 male is the father of 2007 hen) This was my first time ever breeding father to daughter or "line breeding" up to this point I was just keeping the males and females that I thought would be good pairs and breeding them. Btw.... My initial cross was in 2004 of a marti poultry SD yokohama x cy hyde BBR phoenix bantam hen to a malay bantam cock.

 Re: BBR yokohama bantam
honestly..you probably should have left the pheonix out. I did this cross, but used bbred bantam malay with rs yokohama and got some nice progeny without having to fight the white earlobes..yes a little marbling..but much easier to work out. Here's one of the boys..not a great pic..but it was young and still feathering out.. and this is the malay bantam i used..can't seem to find a pic of the yoks..but i did double crossing..was actually working on a minohiki project. (that's my daughter holding the bird..lol)

 Re: BBR yokohama bantam
Agreed, This is evdent by the white in my rooster. Any suggestions on amending this? (short of starting over) lol... Im really please with the size of my birds, and want to keep this family. Im going to do as previously mentioned and just try to hatch as many young from the pair that produced these and hopefully get a few with less white in the earlobes. I do have a young pair from this year that have mostly red earlobes. The hen is showing more tail growth as well. More like a longtail instead of a game hen. ill post pics of them in a few weeks.

 Re: BBR yokohama bantam
I'd say just cull out the one's with the white in the lobes..about all you can do.

 Re: BBR yokohama bantam
I'm finding out the SD's from Marti Poultry carry white in their earlobes too. I haven't outcrossed yet but get a rooster from time to time with white lobes. My guess is that they too used phoenix or Leghorn sometime in the past to get either tail genes from the phoenix or to get production up with the leghorn. I have also noticed that there are some birds with willow legs which makes me think there may have been a slate legged bird in the past somewhere. I cull all of the willow legged ones out and just keep the yellow. That's just my 2 cents but I saw you had some from Marti so thought it may be interesting to know what I have gotten from them. I like the first bird in type though. Did i get it right it is an F1 ? those white lobes will be hard to get rid of.
