Get it out of the house, and in the yard around chickens, and be patient. Looks good btw!

great looking pup..like cuda said..get her out of the house..put her on a lead and take her with you on rounds. If she should lunge at chickens, don't smack her or beat her and never ever tie a dead chicken around her neck if she kills one..just tighten up the lead and tell her a firm NO! Never let her go in front of you on the lead..she should go beside you or behind you too..that makes you the alpha in the pack. Diligence and patience here is what you're going to need and hopefully she has good instincts that will kick in soon. Just remember, they are not automatic. These dogs sleep alot during the day and bark lots at night as well..but you got to love them!

Re: got a new GP what do you think?
hey, yeah the whole house thing isnt good for her, i have her in a homemade built dog kennel deal, she has about a 50 ft. by 75 ft. chainlink yard to roam around in, i put a chicken on a tie cord and put it in there with her she seems to have found a true frind in him lol i went to check when it got dark that she was in the dry it is supposed to rain tonight, i looked in the dog house no dog, looked around the whole thing and couldnt find her, went to see if she killed the chicken and she was sleeping in the barrel with the rooster. i was amazed i didnt think she would take up with them that fast, BUT on the bright side she has always been around gamefowl since the day she was born her mother is an outstanding guard dog in a decent sized yard so she comes from good genes. cant believe the size of her so far at 8 weeks old.

Re: got a new GP what do you think?
got my first issue with her, she tends to want to play with the rooster, she holds it down then lets it up so she can chase it down to pen it on the ground again, i rolled her and penned her for it and she stoped untill she thought i couldnt see her anymore then started doing it again. think i should just put her by her self and only let her around the fowl when i can keep a watchful eye? i know she is just being a pup, she has put alot together so far, there is a guy who stops by time to time that i consider a friend, i sent him down to the lot to see how she acted, she jumped on the fence and barked at him with one paw on the fence, the closer to the fence he got the louder she would bark and more aggressive she would act, she is still a baby but showing great potential

you'll be better off doing what i told you. You're not establishing pack order here. Also read the article i posted about the Anatolians..that should help you too.
I rescued and rehabbed plenty of livestock guardian dogs and made them outstanding chicken guardian dogs with the method I posted earlier..from pup to adult dog.

The age you really have to watch them is about a year old. They want to play with everything. They are wonderful dogs.
