I'm guessing that opossum's are the cause of more losses with chickens than any other predator.

Sad but True. My existing set up deters almost any other threat to my birds, but the possum is 'stupid enough to not take heed, and like a rat, can get any any hole it's head can get thru, making young 'possums a perhaps greater threat at times.

My usual joke lines are, "How long you fatten them up?" or " Thar's sum gud eatin' thar, if ya fix it rite, boy !"

Killed two so far up here.

They are taken easily by live traps, here. My dogs have always gotten the highest praise and reward for catching a 'possum here.

My biggest losses are to fox. When there free ranging out in the timber. We have alot of opossums and I catch a bunch just in live traps that I keep set 24/7. Jan dosent like it much when I dispatch opossums she calls them natures garbage disposil. I tell her good they can dispose of one of there own then.
