Post Probably Looking For Pyr pup...
For crying out loud. I tried the "rescue route" with all the usual crap that entails. I need a dog with HAIR in this climate. And one that will BARK.

So, any of you with proven good bird dogs, next time you breed a litter, let me know, eh?

Hey NoCurs, I know you said you’ve already triad the recue route? Also aware that you also already have dogs so bringing in an adult can always stir the mix. What I am saying is most people should not attempt it but it sounds like you have the dog experience to pull it off. I know of some folks that have recued adult Anatolians some with experience from here. Wish you were closer I know of one that is available here in Fl. Good luck

I have Great Pyrnees pups. Both parents run with chickens and are proven. Only three weeks old but will be ready soon.

My smart mouth was thinking the same thing when I saw the 'bird dog.' LOL.

My buddy down the road only had two dogs protecting his birds and yard, an American Bull male and a Enlglish Bull Terrier female that patrolled his property. He lost no birds to anything, 2 or 4 legs. I'm surprized yours don't protect your birds

I just seen an advertisement for one of those "very rare" black GP's. I bet its "pure" too.

Carr, its hard as hell for my dogs to guard them against owl at night on account of we all get tangled up in the comforter when the birds sqwuak! My pit bulls are not "yard" dogs, on account of they have very little hair and mommie doesn't want to lie awake all night worrying about them getting cold...

The good news is, I will be picking up a 7 year old rescued flock dog in a little while. A female maremma/Great pyr cross. Doesn't like other dogs, but that's ok, as she won't be with my other dogs. Because she is seven, i do want to get a y ounger dog, but AFTER my knee surgery.

I'm down to only one cock on a tie cord... sigh. Anyway, thanks for the tips and puppy alerts! Will keep them in mind!
